The Weight of the Words (exhibition)
The Weight of Words is an online exhibition curated by Pedro Torres of Spain for his Stuffinablank website, which brings words that move, form, and classify together with words which are sung, spoken, written, and found. Friends Joshua Caleb Weibely and Pascual Sisto (no relation) are in this one, plus a lot of folks I’m excited to learn more about. Thanks, Pedro!

Queens of the Hill
One of the English language’s most recognized and performed songs is Happy Birthday to You, which first appeared between 1893 and 1912 as new age-grading standards in American schools increased the need for a common celebratory song (E. Pleck). HBTY is a derivative work combing the generally-assumed-to-be-folk lyrics with the tune of Good Morning to All, a melody written by and...

Slowly Sinking
7 inches in length, 39 in breadth, and 15 in thickness. These are the dimensions of the 2nd of 3 stones Charles Darwin describes in his explanation of how worms, through their subterranean moving-about of soil and the ejection of castings into the vegetable mould, do over time contribute to the sinking of large stones and other objects into the earth. He estimates that this...

Jackson Potluck
Hi. From Chicago, here is the 3rd installment of Social Securityentitled Jackson Potluck. As you might imagine it combines aspects of participatory culture, communal dining, the fine arts by gathering some group of people together to create a delicious cake to the exact size of Pollock’s No. 5.
This is very similar in spirit to my first suggested idea, Public Lo Mein, and did...

Boot Ups Archive
Hello. Writing from a coffee shop in Chicago. Apologies for the slow 2nd post in the Social Securityseries; I’ve been camping in state parks and such - beautiful as they are, the wireless situation is less than ideal. So, here is public domain project proposal #2: Bootups.org.
About this time last year, I had the thought to archive audio of all the computers I could remember my family...

The Public Lo Mein
The Public Lo Mein is a loose framework for installation & performance-based salons featuring artists, hackers, and legal scholars. The basic idea is that over the course of an evening, a series of presentations & open discussion regarding fair use and attribution in emerging genres would take place as guests enjoy a fresh lo mein dinner. Event hosts should prepare the meal themselves.
